Stay Overnight in Zhaotun With Poplar Tree Forests and Ponds, Traveling With the Wind About Seventy Miles Every Day

Stay Overnight in Zhaotun With Poplar Tree Forests and Ponds, Traveling With the Wind About Seventy Miles Every Day

Across the land, windy dust-devils suck up the soil
High and rising waves slap against the boat like a belt flowing skyward.
Willow trees dancing with who knows what kind of joys?
Reed flowers not ready to rest and die, kowtow to me.

Along both riverbanks, it seems running horses are approaching from
thousands of mountains
Heading home, one sailboat needs to travel over 300 miles.
This ill and solitary crane flying back outside of his cage
For too long I remained within golden handcuffs and sorrows!

Notes:

Yang Wanli was traveling as fast as he could back home. He was very much against the new imperial policy of replacing copper-based coins with coins of cheaper metals. Golden handcuffs refer to the comparative large salaries and benefits of being a government official.
