Yan Ziling: (Yan Ling) is also known as Yan Guang: (ca. 1-75 AD) Famous for being one of the four important sages of Yuyao . Yuyao is a city 25 miles east of Ningbo in the province of Zhejiang and is noted for its long line of famous scholars.
Yan was a classmate of the emperor Liu Xiu. As emperor, Liu asked Yan to come out of his mountain seclusion to accept a high position at the imperial court. Yan refused, as he was afraid of being influenced by the palace corruptions. Near Mt. Fuchuan, Yan was also famous a hermit fisherman who did not use a hook.
