Long Time Thinking of Each Other: No. 3

Face of sorrows, hair turned white and sparse
With a full stomach, not value money, only books of poems.
Without official duties, often sleep during the daytime.
Picture at Lingyan, they were gathered from an imperial edict
Ancient to modern days, in youth one can achieve fame and success.
I know only the heart-minds of the cuckoos.

Notes:

Lingyan: A traditional pavilion in the southwest part of the Taiji Palace inside the ancient city of Chang’an (now Xi’An). In March of 643, emperor Taizong commissioned life-size portraits of twenty-four heroes to commemorate their service to the country. All but one was a duke, and most were generals as well.
