Lu Yu: A Mid-Lake Light Rain Show

A Mid-Lake Light Rain Show

湖 中 微 雨 戏 作
搓 罢 青 梅 指 爪 香
一 杯 聊 复 答 年 光。
莫 言 老 子 无 人 顾
犹 得 西 施 作 淡 妆。
Hu Zhong Wei Yu Xi Zuo

Cuo ba qing mei zhi zhua xiang
Yi bei liao fu da nian guang.
Mo yan lao zi wu ren gu
You de xi shi zuo dan zhuang.

A Mid-Lake Light Rain Show

Twisting to prepare green plum wine makes for fragrant fingers
One cup of wine just enough for this seasonal scenery.
No one cares for Lu Yu as he is without human visitors
Yet here I am with the beauty of Xi Shi in light spring make-up.

Notes:

Xi Shi:  One of the legendary Four Beauties of ancient China. Reported to have lived around 500-476 BC.  Stories surrounding her included that when on a balcony leaning over to look at the fish, they were so dazzled by her they forgot to swim. It is also said that she enticed birds to fall out of the sky and shamed the flowers.
