Jin ling lao lao song ke tang
Man cao li li sheng dao pang
Gu qing bu jin dong liu shui
Ci di bei feng chou bai yang.
Wo cheng su ge tong kang le
Lang yong qing chuan fei ye shuang.
Xi wen niu zhu yin wu zhang
Jin lai he xie yuan jia lang?

Vines and grasses very green and entwined, emerge along the pathways.
Ancient sentiments without limits, like the waters flowing east
This earth and melancholy winds around anxious, white poplars.
I ride in the low-cost boats, the same as Kangle
Chant loudly as I fly along the clear river with evening frost.
Sing five character songs, famous from the past, by Mt. Niuzhu
Today, where is Yuan Jialang, the young woodcutter who used Xie’s influence to get a palace position?
Cold bamboo sounds of suffering arouse the autumn moon
Alone during the night behind the boat’s curtain, I return to my long dreams.

Jinling: Also known as Nanjing, the provincial capital of Jiangsu Province, and national capital during the Ming Dynasty.
Kangle: Perhaps referring to Xie Xuan.
Xie: Perhaps referring to Xie Xuan (343-388). He was an army general during the Jin Dynasty. He was also the Duke of Kangle.
