Sunny Spring Weather, I Return to Former Gardens of Birchleaf Pear Trees: Two Poems: No. 2
Chun Qing Huai Gu Yuan Hai Tang: Er Shou
Shu bian tai xie shui bian ting
Bu yao ren sui zhi you xing.
Zuo nuan liu tiao wu qi li
Dan qing hua ying bu fen ming.
Yi fan guo yu lai you jing
Wu shu xin qin you xi sheng.
Zhi qian cui sha hong wan rou
Liang nian han shi fu xian sheng.
Sunny Spring Weather, I Return to Former Gardens of Birchleaf Pear Trees: Two Poems: No. 2
From a terraced balcony, streamside pavilion with bamboo borders
Do not allow people to follow me, want to walk by myself.
Suddenly warm willow branches without any strength
Overcast, separate flowers and shadows not very bright.
Rain passes by, a shadowed seclusion arrives
Numerous young birds have sounds of joy.
All we are short of, the greens and reds of the birchleaf pear trees
For two years I have missed the festivities and flowers of the Cold Food Days.
Notes:
Cold Food Days: The days surrounding the Qing Ming celebrations in early April when no hot food preparations are done. Qing Ming is also observed but visiting the gravesites of one’s ancestors by sweeping, cleaning and leaving fresh flowers.
