Evening Climb Up to a Multi-Step Terraced Pavilion to View the One Thousand Mountain Peaks
Ye Deng Gan Feng Xie
Yi fu zhu ren gu zuo chen
Zhi jin huang wu shang dong xun.
Duo bing da xian fei wu ce
Shou qi xin ting yao you ren.
Bo niang bu jiao xiong lei kuai
Zhuang tu kong fu dan lun qun.
Wei lou cha dou shan xian yue
Xi yi chang he yi chuang shen.
Evening Climb Up To a Multi-Step Terraced Pavilion to View the One Thousand Mountain Peaks
During the times of Wang Yan, groups of human bones arose with the dust
Today our emperor’s imperial houses go far into the east.
Sent our soldiers to Mt. Xian without plans or strategies
We need special forces to concentrate in Qi Xinting.
Thin wine cannot quell the hearts full of anger
My grand plans for military courage proving to be empty.
This tall and panoramic view complemented by the cherished moon inserted among the peaks
Can only rely on these long songs and one deity full of sorrows.
Notes:
Wang Yan: (256-311 AD): A Western Jin dynasty politician and government official. He was ambushed during a funeral procession, and then was executed by a Han Zhao (Xiongnu) army general. Han Zhao was a small state to the north held by the northern Mongolian tribes.
