Evening in Jiazhou, Read Aloud A Poem From Cen’s Collections
Han Dynasty Jiazhou, an area of mountains and waters
Mr. Cen used to live here.
His poems and letters full of the strong and heroic
With writings comparable to those of Li Bai and Du Fu.
He often followed the army season after season
The poems about being able to hold off the invaders.
Today can still see where his bamboo scrolls were insect bitten
Most of the time he was in the military on western campaigns.
Though withered and old, we still have a hundred examples of his writing
High and towering expressions of outstanding people.
His creative and productive skills were natural and innate
His lyrics blended well with the palace and court music.
I come along now four hundred years later to read these poems
Lucid dreams of him bring even more respect.
Late in life has special conditions
I am still needed to perform government service.
Tribes within the Xiongnu are now fighting among themselves
Our current emperor can turn us around toward them in the north.
Read aloud your Mt. Tian poems
Thinking if I met you, my tears would be flowing.
