Going Across the Huai River
渡 淮
淮 水 东 南 阔
无 风 渡 亦 难。
孤 烟 生 乍 直
远 树 望 多 圆。
春 浪 棹 声 急
夕 阳 帆 影 残。
清 流 宜 映 月
今 夜 重 吟 看。
Du Huai
Huai shui dong nan kuo
Wu feng du yi nan.
Gu yan sheng zha zhi
Yuan shu wang duo yuan.
Chun lang zhao sheng ji
Xi yang fan ying can.
Qing liu yi ying yue
Jin ye chong yin kan.
Going Across the Huai River
Flowing southeast, the Huai River broad and vast
Without wind, very difficult to move across.
Solitary cooking fires emerge again straight ahead
Gaze into the distance, far away trees are circles.
Restless and active oar sounds and waves
At sundown, remnants of silhouetted sails.
Clear water flows suitable to reflect the moonlight
Again tonight chant and take in the scenery.

Huai River: Large river flowing from west to east in between the two larger rivers of the Changjiang and Yellow River.
