山 鹧 鸪
朝 朝 暮 暮 啼 复 啼
啼 时 露 白 风 凄 凄。
黄 茅 岚 头 愁 日 晚
苦 竹 岭 下 寒 月 低。
畲 田 有 粟 何 不 啄
石 南 有 枝 何 不 栖？
迢 迢 不 缓 复 不 急
楼 上 舟 中 声 暗 入。
梦 乡 迁 客 展 转 卧
抱 儿 寡 妇 彷 徨 立。
山 鹧 鸪 尔 本 此 乡 鸟
生 不 辞 巢 不 别 群。
何 苦 声 声 啼 到 晓？
啼 到 晓
唯 能 愁 北 人
南 人 愦 闻 如 不 闻。

Ti shi lu bai feng qi qi.
Huang mao lan tou chou ri wan
Ku zhu ling xia han yue di.

Wei nemg chou bei ren
Nan ren kui wen ru bu wen.
Mountain Partridges
Dawn after dawn, sunset after sunset hear the continuous wailing
Season of white dew and cold bleak winds as they cry out.
Yellowed thatch mountain mists, melancholy day and night
Bitter bamboo mountain range below a cold setting moon.
Southern fields of millet are eaten by them
Why don’t they perch on the twigs of nearby bushes?
Faraway river not slow, yet not impatient
From a tower, sounds of boats secretly enter.
Dreams of hometown, this transient visitor tosses and turns
A single woman with child paces back and forth.
These mountain partridges are the local birds
All their life they never leave their nests or their community.
Why make me suffer so much listening to all their wailing at dawn?
Crying and crying until daybreak.
Makes this northern visitor more melancholy
Southern people are used to them, they do not hear a thing.
