Ninth Month Twentieth Day Light Snow, Thinking of My Brother Ziyou: Two Poems: No. 2
Same boat on the river, our poetry has filled a small box
In Zheng and Xi our horses separated, tears fell.
Not yet achieve merit for my country, ashamed that plans have come up short
Perhaps I should go home, but fear my friend’s inquiries.
Surprised to be on this government job, be in place for autumn
Maybe you can climb to see snow from the temple building.
Read aloud together the Yi Jing below the eastern window
Carts and horses knock at your door, still you will not answer them.
Notes:
Yi Jing: Also known the Book of Changes, and often spelled as “I Ching”. One of the classics, and often used as a text of divination.
