Calm Wind and Waves: (Chant About Red Plum Blossoms)
After sleeping in, wearily open up, no one bored with the tardiness
Pity myself, white flowers not in season.
By chance, small amounts of red peach and apricot colors elegant and refined
Value the distinction of a snowy and frosty appearance.
An unoccupied heart-mind stops holding on to things that do not matter
With wine, a faint pink color emerges from her beautiful skin.
Old poet Shi did not really understand the plum blossoms in order to express them in his poems
I look with intent at this tree when it is without green leaves or twigs.
Notes:
Old poet Shi: Su Dongpo talking about himself.
Commentary:
The opposite of an unoccupied heart-mind would be a distracted heart-mind that holds onto things that do not matter.
