城 中 卧 病 知 阎 薛 二 子 屡 从 邑 令 饮 因 以 赠 之
车 马 日 萧 萧
胡 不 枉 我 庐？
方 来 从 令 饮
卧 病 独 何 如？
秋 风 起 汉 皋
开 户 望 平 芜。
即 此 吝 音 素
焉 知 中 密 疏。
渴 者 不 思 火
寒 者 不 求 水。
人 生 羁 寓 时
去 就 当 如 此。
犹 希 心 异 迹
眷 眷 存 终 始。

Hu bu wang wo lu?

Han zhe bu qiu shui.
Ren sheng ji yu shi
Qu jiu dang ru ci.

Daily carriages and neighing horses
Why didn’t you come down to my humble house?
Waiting for you to arrive and start our drinking
What is the difference if I am alone, sick in bed?
Autumn winds arise from the Han River ferry crossing
Open the door to gaze into the distance, a plain overgrown with weeds.
So precious to have our simple letters
Realize you skipped right by me.
Thirsty people do not think of fire
Cold people do not ask for water.
Human experiences of living in a time of being restrained
Coming and going always like this.
Still hope my heart-mind different from outward conditions
Constantly bear me in mind from our beginning to our ends.
