Changmen Palace Regrets: Two Poems
(1)
In heaven, late at night the Big Dipper returns north
This golden house without people, firefly lights spread.
Moonlit landscape, he wants to go to the Changmen palace
Deep inside arises her melancholy.
(2)
Guadian wood, long sadness, do not remember spring
Four rooms of the golden house full of autumn dust.
Evening hangs a bright mirror in the black sky above
Illuminates one person inside the Changmen palace.
Notes:
Changmen palace: Refers to a famous poem by poetess Xu Hui (627-650) titled “Regret in Changmen Palace” which was a metaphor for an abandoned lady.
