Stay Overnight in Hua Shishu
Mid-day leave from the cliffside shores of Kong Ling
By sunset I am in Hua Shishu.
From the riverbank, waters arrive from many and scattered places
From ancient times to today, many and various trees.
Vigorous southern winds blow warmth from wet earth evaporation
Till the sun sets in the west, spring heat radiates.
All four seasons seem the same
So why does this air now feel so different from the spring?
Between heaven and earth boundless and vast
Will our domestic tranquility ever return from this chaos?
My boat tethered to a part of a waterwheel mill, now covered with coiled vines
With a bamboo cane I walk on an ancient road with people gathering firewood.
Banished people appear no longer in the village
Natural spring waters create wetlands to take over uncultivated gardens.
Yet the bramble doors and weeds have been tended to
Farm implements and animal pens still strong.
Government rebel strongholds still in the eastern mountains
However, Wu and Chu areas are within imperial control.
Who can knock on their doors?
I am not a bandit or government agent here to recruit or harm you.
