Daoist Scholar Mei’s River Pavilion
Mei Dao Shi Shui Ting
Ao li fei fan li
Ming liu ji dao liu.
Yin ju bu ke jian
Gao lun mo neng chou.
Shui jie xian yuan jin
Shan cang gui gu you.
Zai lai mi chu suo
Hua xia wen yu zhou.
Daoist Scholar Mei’s River Pavilion
Proud government clerk, not an ordinary government clerk
Eminent person is one who has attained a level of refinement.
Withdrawn from society to live in solitude, not seen very often
Advanced scholars of The Analects, no one can easily come to know.
His river water joins near the celestial beings water source
Hiding in the deep mountains is a valley that is home to heavenly beings.
After leaving once, you can never go back again
Like Tao Hua Yuan, I need to ask the fisherman the way back.
Notes:
Tao Hua Yuan: Allusion to Tao Yuanming’s original poetic creation Peach Blossom Watersource. This important poem can be found on this website.
