Runzhou: Two Poems

Ju Wu pavilion, to the east three hundred miles of autumn
In former years I traveled here, once produced many songs.
Around the Qing Tai temple without traces of horse travel
At Lu Shui bridge there were many wine shops.

In the days of Nanjing, after the Eastern Jin dynasty, the southerners relaxed achievements
They were able to understand Laozi and Zhuangzi without political or financial attachments.
Wish we had the bright moonlight upon the likes of Huan Yi
One could hear a person playing a flute to express the melancholy of a strategic border stronghold.

Xie Tao wrote poems of Chizhou’s beautiful landscapes
Fu Chai developed a fighting force that could battle and communicate along the waterways.
Runzhou city walls like tall iron pots and weapons, made it very defensible from east to west
Willow trees hiding vermilion buildings, places of many dreams and clouds.

Long and twisting copper horn, sounds that follow the river north
All the way to the moon, fishermen songs and stories.
Recollect the Yangzhou dirt and dust flying up
Do not value the one thousand in gold given to friends.
