Bright moonlight like frost
Fine winds blow like water
Pure, quiet landscape without limits.
Crooked bridge and small cove with jumping fish
Big round lotus leaves shed dew drops
Still and solitary, no people seen.
At midnight three striking drum sounds
So clear and forceful one falling leaf makes an impression
Very dim misty dream breaks apart with a startle.
Evening vast, cannot bring back these visions
Perceptions, lucidity arrive, walk around the small gardens.
I am a weary visitor at the end of the world
Road going back through the middle of my mountains
Gaze into the distance, abandoned old gardens in my mind’s eye.
Yanzi tower empty
What beautiful lady is here
Locked and vacant among the swallows.
From ancient times to the present is like a dream
Before long, I awake from this dream
Over time resentments are replaced with new joys.
Compared to some other times and seasons
Such as the evening landscapes at Yellow Crane tower
All in turn becomes a deep sigh for the what remains.
