Climb the Western Tower, Recall My Younger Brother
Deng Xi Lou Yi Xing Jian
Mei yin lou shang xi nan wang
Shi jue ren jian dao lu chang.
Ai ri mu shan qing cu cu
Jin tian qiu shui bai mang mang.
Feng bo bu jian san nian mian
Shu xin nan zhuan wan li chang.
Zao wan dong gui lai xia xia
Wen cheng chuan fang guo qu tang.
Climb the Western Tower, Recall My Younger Brother
Every time upon this tower, I gaze southwest into the distance
Begin to feel people on the highways are so far away.
Piled up green mountains block the daily sunsets
Vast and boundless, white waters and autumn skies.
Wind and waves prevented us from seeing each other for three years
From thousand of miles away, difficult to exchange our letters and news.
Later we can meet again east and downriver from the gorges
Hope you travel safely past the large Qu Tang gorge.
Notes:
Qu Tang gorge: The first, shortest and narrowest of the Three Gorges on the Changjiang.
