百 虫 啼 晚 烟 如 扫。
简 漏 初 长 天 香 香。

Proud Fishing Households: (No. 7) Seventh Month

Seventh month morning dew, fresh autumn winds
Front courtyard, old parasol trees and lotus flowers around an islet.
This is the season when girls await Weaver Girl blessings
Pass around the golden wine vessel.
Colorful silk threads vie to be the most beautiful.

Suddenly ten thousand leaves beating sounds signal the cooler weather.
One hundred insects weeping, evening mists like a broom
Waterclocks run dry during long and darker nights.
People’s words subdued
Then have to endure evening rains that hasten clear dawns.

Notes:

Weaver Girl: Female counterpart of the famous Cowherd and Weaver Girl story. These two star lovers are separated in the heavens by the Milky Way, and can only come together one day a year. Magpies form a bridge for them to meet on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
