Li Qingzhao: Spring Arrives in Changmen

Spring Arrives in Changmen

Xiao Chong Shan

Chun dao chang men chun cao qing
Jiang mei xie zi po wei kai yun.
Bi yun long nian yu cheng chen
Liu long xiao meng jing po yi ou chun.

Hua ying ya chong men
Shu lian pu dan yue hao huang hun.
Er nian san du fu dong jun
Gui lai ye zhu xi guo jin chun.

Spring Arrives in Changmen (Small Mt. Chong)

Spring arrives in Changmen, grasses become green
Some river plum blossoms begin to break open, some do not open at all
Bin tea brick, grinding over and over until it is dust
Early morning dreams remain
Surprised to realize one spring day of tea drinking has gone.

Flower shadows press against the door
Thin curtains hold the crescent’s moon light, a  lovely yellow dusk
Two years without you, a third springtime magic could be missed
Come back now, we need to compare poems to the upcoming spring.
